It was recently reported that Olly had split ways with his record company, Sony and now he has shared that this was partly due to Taylor Swift. He is also presently feverishly thinking about his next move and plans a new record later this year along with a new deal to follow, in a completely Swift fashion.

"It was an amazing 12 years at Sony. It was an amazing journey, but it's not unusual for people to move on," he explained to the Sun UK. "It was an amazing 12 years at Sony. It was an amazing journey, but it's not unusual for people to move on," he added.

According to him, he views the whole thing in the lens of sports. He cited the breakup as contentions with visions, even though there are no bad feelings. "I look at it like a football club. I had a great relationship with them, but the contract came to an end and they had one vision for me and I had another vision - so we just said we will part and go our separate ways," he added.

The issue was he was no longer content although for the past years with Sony, he and the management have been quite happy. But fresh is what he needs right now, which he cannot achieve without leaving behind the old.

Suffice to say, he's dropping a new album as soon as possible. He added the last proper album he dropped within the past five years is one that collated his greatest hits. He admitted that this was purely the decision of Sony because he did not want to do that.

"I didn't really want to do that album and they did, I didn't think I was ready, but I did it as it was part of my contract," he explained. "I've had many hits I've not been around long enough and I feel like I still have a lot more to give. This new album is exciting," he added.

Taylor Swift was a strong force behind all these decisions he's now making. The "Shake It Off" singer's move to regain more control over her recordings made a mark on him. "I think Taylor is definitely the one who has pushed people to think about an all-round deal, so the conversation I'm having with other labels are about that," he explained.

He's now on a lookout for a record company that can share his vision and goals. He said he's looking for a group of people that are excited about the future, but who are also willing to tell me if an idea is a bad one!
