Kanye West has alleged that he was not allowed creative control over his docuseries on Netflix.
The filmmakers of the three-part Netflix docuseries "Jeen-Yuhs," Coodie and Chike, reportedly rebuffed Ye's request for final edit permission.
However, the filmmakers have a good explanation as to why they were able to give him what he wanted.
It broke the director's heart to learn that Kanye didn't grasp or recall their agreement, according to Clarence Simmons.
Despite the fact that the documentary is centered on the award-winning rapper, Coodie stated that it is not primarily about him, thus he does not receive the last day before the release.
"I told Kanye when I met with him in [the Dominican Republic] that the tale is not about him and it's not about me, Chike, or J. Ivy," he stated on "The Tamron Hall Show."
"This is a narrative for all dreamers, and we're simply the template for how you can have the confidence, movement, and trust with God walking with you, with Christ walking with you to go to where you need to go."
He went on to explain that when the "Donda" rapper demanded creative autonomy, all they had to say was to "'Trust God. Period.'"
"You can't stop what God has planned. When he said that, I knew we were going to maintain our ground and keep progressing, and we're finally here."
When questioned if they were still friends with Kanye, Coodie stated that they are because he would always be his "brother," no matter what drama is going on in their lives.
He stated that Kanye would always be his "little brother," since Coodie is six years his senior.
Coodie also contacts him on occasion, offering him other quotes that he has gotten from others.
He did, however, explain that if the rapper wanted to do something and was told not to, "he wants to do it even more."
The first act of "Jeen-Yuhs," titled "Vision," was published on February 16. Act 2 is named "Purpose," and it was released on the platform on February 24, while Act 3 is titled "Awakening," and it was released a week later.
Coodie and Chike spent 21 years filming the "Gold Digger" rapper for the documentary.
