Is Kanye West no longer going to be invited to play at Coachella?

Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett stated the festival was "harder" on him this year than normal.

Kanye West was due to headline the 2022 edition of Coachella just two weeks prior, but the "Donda" rapper dropped out of his act on April 4 without explanation.

However, according to an interview with the Los Angeles Times, there is no ill blood between them.

Tollett commented on the last-minute withdrawal, saying he and the award-winning artist are "still okay."

"I Zoomed with him a few of days earlier, and I think that was a wonderful move for him," he told the site.

Fortunately, several performers were available to fill the spot.

Wassim "Sal" Slaiby, manager of The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia, phoned Tollett immediately after the lineup change and inquired what they were searching for in a replacement.

"'I truly don't know yet,' I answered. I'm still a little taken aback by Kanye's departure. 'I need to think about what I'm going to do here.'"

Aside from this year's event being "harder" for him owing to the unanticipated adjustments caused by the pandemic, the final roster for the festival was finalized in the next several days.

The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia have been announced as the new headliners for the third day of the two-weekend event.

Tollett remarked that it was difficult when all of the headliners were altered. However, he understands that it is his responsibility to continue on and correct it.

"But it's also only a small portion of what you do. Don't be alarmed. Just make a difference, you know?"

2023 Coachella

Following the conclusion of Coachella 2022's second week, Paul Tollett stated that one of the performers headlining next yearwill be Frank Ocean.

Goldenvoice's CEO confirmed the news in August.

While Ocean hasn't released a full-length album since his 2016 breakthrough "Blonde," he has dropped many 2020 singles such as "Dear April" and "Cayendo" after embarking on a "loosie run" from 2017 to 2019, according to NME.

It's also uncertain whether he'll release new music before next year's Coachella event, but fans are apparently hopeful.

Ocean was originally set to headline the 2020 Coachella Festival, but backed out when the event was postponed until recently.

Billie Eilish would have taken his position if he had been unavailable at the time.

However, none of the initial 2020 headliners performed during this year's event. Harry Styles and Kanye West took the place of Rage Against the Machine and Travis Scott.
