Ty Herndon opened up about the day he attempted to claim his own life.

Herndon is ready to give his fans a new gift next month. His new album, "Jacob," which will be available on July 15, was inspired by the biblical character who does everything to get God's blessing.

In a new interview with PEOPLE, the country star said that he is like the character as he previously took his biggest challenge and turned it into his biggest blessing.

According to Herndon, he was arrested when he was 33 years old due to indecent exposure in Dallas. He detailed that he took crystal meth for days before his arrest due to the issues he was dealing with in his life and career, including his severe drug addiction and homosexuality.

"I'll be honest. Euphoria, drugs, feeling confident that maybe one of these handsome people running around there might know who I am," he said.

At the time of his arrest, he reportedly thought of dying as he saw it as the only way to "get out of the hell."

In the past 27 years, he has been in and out of rehab. He also relapsed three times and continued his battle with crystal meth addiction for three decades. For Herndon, the substance became the pandemic of his soul since it gave him terrifying nightmares he would never be able to describe.

But he hit rock bottom in 2020.

Ty Herndon Almost Died After Crystal Meth Addiction Relapsed

On New Year's Eve two years ago, Herndon revealed that he was holding 27 Ambien tablets in his hand to commit suicide.

"I'd been up for four days. The windows were duct-taped. There was not a stitch of daylight in my apartment. I was right over there, on the floor," he said.

According to the American Addiction Centers, Ambien is a sedative-hypnotic medication that is usually prescribed to people suffering from insomnia. It slows brain activity to encourage sleep. It is safe to use if a patient has a doctor's advice, but taking more doses or combining it with other medications could have lethal effects.

Until now, Herndon could not explain how he was able not to take the pills that morning. However, he recalled calling a friend, and it pushed him to go back into treatment to bravely deal with his addiction, mental illness (bipolar), and sexual trauma.

With his experience, he will soon give birth to his new album to make his return to preaching.
