The Weeknd has finally announced who will replace Doja Cat on the After Hours Till Dawn World Tour.
Doja Cat was initially set to be the opening act for The Weeknd's highly-awaited world tour, but because of the pop star's current medical condition, she pulled out of her commitments.
But aside from the much-anticipated Doja Cat replacement, The Weeknd's concert team has unveiled plans for a "conceptual" show in the works.
The Weeknd 'After Hours Till Dawn' World Tour Details
The Weeknd had everyone at the edge of their seats after unveiling the After Hours Till Dawn World Tour schedules and opening act last March 2022.
Initially, Doja Cat was set to open the 19-date tour, but the pop star pulled out following the need for her to undergo tonsil surgery. Since her cancellation, fans have been curious about who will replace the pop star.
In a Variety exclusive report, The Weeknd's After Hours Till Dawn opening acts will be R&B singer Snoh Aalegra, DJ/producer Mike Dean, and Canadian electronic artist Kaytranada.
Dean will be performing on the entire North American leg of The Weeknd World Tour concerts. But, Kaytranada will be opening for the majority of the concerts - it's opening in Toronto, Las Vegas, New York, and Los Angeles.
On the other hand, Snoh Alegra will be taking only four shows - Atlanta, Arlington, San Francisco, and Seattle.
The Weeknd heavily teased the start of his tour on his Twitter account, which will launch at The Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada, on Jul. 8, 2022.
The tour was supposedly taking place in June 2020 for the singer's After Hours album, released days after the coronavirus pandemic began in the US.
But the success of his 10x Platinum single Blinding Lights and 2021 headline performance at the Super Bowl Halftime show, fans have been roaring for a concert at the height of the pandemic-stricken season. Unfortunately, the tour was entirely scrapped after a bunch of postponements.
Thus, the After Hours Till Dawn merged tour.
To make the highly-awaited concert even more memorable, The Weeknd's team will be doubling down on the theatrics of the After Hours Till Dawn tour.
"The entire show is conceptual. There is a linear story between 'After Hours' and 'Dawn FM,' and I think the audience will walk away with different interpretations of the show. To us, that's the whole point," Live Nation Touring President Omar Al-joulani said.
