Saweetie Debut Album Delayed After Promising Summer Release, Here's Why

Saweetie's debut album has long been overdue.

Starting in the business in 2017, the female rapper has only released a couple of extended plays and a hefty amount of singles.

The arrival of his debut album, Pretty Bitch Music, was promised a long time ago, but a new statement from the rapper says it will be delayed again.

Saweetiee's New Album 'Pretty Bitch Music' Delayed

After debuting her hit song My Type in April 2020, Saweetiee has begun hinting at the release of her new album by posting the phrase "pretty bitch music" on her social media accounts.

Months later, she released Tap In, considered the album's lead single. The track then began to get a string of remixes from Jack Harlow, Post Malone, and DaBaby. The track then became a hit and was certified by RIAA as Platinum.

The second single from the album was Back From The Streets, a collaboration with Jhene Aiko, which reached #1 on the US Rhythmic Charts and Gold certification.

After the hit, Saweeetie unleashed another collab, now with Doja Cat.

Best Friend peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for Best Rap Song at the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards. The song, however, lost to Jay-Z and Kanye West's hit Jail.

She also received a nomination for Best New Artist from the Recording Academy but ultimately lost to Olivia Rodrigo.

After the third hit, Saweetiee released two more singles from the album, Fast (Motion) and Closer with H.E.R., just this February 2022.

The same month she released her collaboration with H.E.R., the 28-year-old singer promised Billboard that the highly-awaited album would be out "definitely before the summer."

However, her recent Instagram update says otherwise.

According to the rapper, Pretty Bitch Music is not an album but a movement.

"We not rushing art, we taking our time! This ain't no microwave shit! It's baking & it will definitely be worth the taste!" she said in a statement.

Saweetie is due to release her album following the festival summer season and the start of July.

Last year, the singer elaborated that she would be releasing a 17-tracked album, which means twelve more tracks are yet to be seen by the public.
