Mick Jagger showed another side of him when he penned a statement following his girlfriend's tragic death.
Amid The Rolling Stones' success, the band members also went through grief, depression, and heartbreak. For Jagger's part, he showed the other side of him after losing his girlfriend, L'Wren Scott.
After headlining the British Summer Time festival at Hyde Park, a heartbreaking statement penned by the singer years ago resurfaces.
In 2014, The Rolling Stones was on its 2014 Australian tour when the news about L'Wren Scott's death emerged. It was immediately postponed as Jagger decided to go back to New York where he was residing with the late model and designer.
Following the confirmation, he took to his website and shared a rare statement to publicly express his heartache.
"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me," he said.
It was reported, however, that the couple broke up shortly before Scott killed herself. A law enforcement source also referred to her as Jagger's "ex-lover."
But Jagger's representative eventually clarified the claims and said that the split was not true as the couple was still together at the time of her death.
What Happened to L'Wren Scott?
In 2014, Scott texted her assistant, Brittany Penebre, at 8:30 a.m to come to her duplex on 11th Avenue and West 24th Street at 10:00 a.m.
But when the assistant arrived, he found her hanging from the apartment's L-shaped handle of the door. She also used a scarf to wrap her neck. Per law enforcement source, it was a "painless" way to die.
Scott left no suicide note, but the authorities ruled out drugs and foul play.
New York City's chief medical examiner's office spokeswoman Julie Bolcer then confirmed that the manner of death was suicide.
It was revealed that her London-based business, LS Fashion Ltd., was deep in debt before her death. It had $5.9 million in the red for 2012 after having a $4.2 million deficit for 2011.
Her death occurred after the last-minute cancellation of her London Fashion Week show due to "production delays in the key show and couture pieces." However, another insider revealed that the real reason behind the postponement was due to her crashed business.
