Dead & Company has been touring the United States over the past few weeks, but they had to cancel their most recent show due to a shocking medical emergency.
According to Jam Base, the band was set to play at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Wednesday evening (July 6.)
However, hours before the show, the band shocked fans after releasing an announcement on their social media accounts that the show won't push through anymore.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight's Dead & Company concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center is canceled," they wrote on Facebook.
The band has clarified that fans who purchased tickets would get refunds, and their remaining tour dates would remain unaffected.
A few moments later, frontman John Mayer took to his Instagram stories to reveal the reason why they had to cancel the show on such short notice.
He noted that his father suffered a "medical emergency" and was transported to the emergency room where "he received much-neeeded and great care."
Mayer added an update about his dad, "He is now fairly stable and will continue to undergo some procedures, but as you can understand, I have to stay in NYC and can't play tonight's show in Saratoga Springs."
After the announcement, many fans rallied in the comment section of their post, and they seemingly understood the situation.
"They would not cancel unless it was a big emergency. Please send love and kindness to the band, roadies, and crew and all of their families," one wrote.
"I'm sure many are disappointed, including the band themselves. But be a compassionate human. Respect their privacy, and wish well for them," another one wrote.
This was not the first time the band had to cancel a show because of a medical emergency, as they also did the same thing earlier this year.
In January, Dead & Company canceled their appearance at the "Playing in the Sand" concerts at Moon Palace resort in Cancún, Mexico, after John Mayer tested positive for COVID-19.
As they were about to leave for Mexico, the singer's physician confirmed that he tested positive for the virus, leading Dos Hermanos con Amigos to take over.
Since the band has clarified that their future shows will not be affected by the recent cancelation, their next stop would be at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, on July 8 (Friday).
