Despite rising to fame decades ago, Elton John's music taste is still up to date as he recently revealed the artists that he mostly listen to nowadays and the bands that he mentioned will likely shock fans.
Speaking to Music Week in a new interview, the British star shared his listening habits and revealed some of his favorite acts in the industry that are "making the best music."
The music acts in his playlists are mostly composed of all-women bands like The Linda Lindas and Haim.
Aside from the two, he also noted that it's "great to see" the Nova Twins, Let's Eat Grandma, Wet Leg, and many more.
"All these girls rocking out and making the best music," the 75-year-old singer said. (via People Magazine)
John later clarified his statement, saying none of the men in the industry "are doing it" aside from Sam Fender.
"It's a breath of fresh air, because it comes from innocence and pure joy and that, for me, is what music is about," he added.
Elsewhere in his conversation with the outlet, he talked about the line of "legacy acts" that are dominating the UK charts. He revealed that he wanted to see more artists to take the mainstream spotlight.
He noted that it's great to see Kate Bush hit number one with her ever-popular "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" after the song was used in the fourth season of "Stranger Things."
However, not everything in the charts are "good records."
"The odd thing comes through, like Sam Fender or Harry Styles, or you get a new artist coming in at No. 3 and then disappearing to 80-something," he added.
John described the feeling as "depressing" because there are many albums that deserve to dominate the charts.
He named some of the best albums from artists like Sharon Van Etten, Juanita Euka, and Angel Olsen.
Aside from the artists mentioned above, it appears that the legendary British singer had been attached to his collaborator, Dua Lipa, as he praised her for her professionalism.
He noted that the "Hotter Than Hell" hitmaker is so charming and humble because she's not being carried away by her own success.
Elton John has loved collaborating with women since his career blossomed. His most recent project, "The Lockdown Sessions," featured female stars like Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Rina Sawayama, and many more.
