After seven years of releasing music and performing in different places around the world, it appears that not everything is permanent as CNCO has announced its disbandment; what could be the reason?
According to E! News, the four-piece boyband attended this year's Premios Juventud in Puerto Rico where they confirmed that they're parting ways with each other.
The reason behind they're breaking up is because each member is going to pursue different projects, including solo music.
Zadbiel de Jesus spoke to Billboard after the show, saying the group always thought that if they break up, it had to be natural and things are falling into the right places.
"We've lived many things together, and grew together in this industry, and we're ready to try new things to expand our careers," he said.
Erick Brian Colon expressed his true feelings, saying they're nervous but excited about the next chapters of their lives.
The band clarified that the disbandment was amicable and Christopher Velez noted that they will still be in touch with each other despite pursuing different solo careers because they're just simply "trying out new."
"It hurts us because it's a big step in our lives that's going to lead us to our solo careers but exciting at the same time because we're willing to experiment and try to find our own sound and individuality," he said.
CNCO was first formed in 2015 after winning the competition titled "La Banda." The Latin band became successful throughout the years as they amassed millions of fans worldwide.
They also snagged several awards including seven Billboard Latin Music Awards.
In early reports, Simon Cowell created the Univision talent search competition which heavily used the Spanish language.
The band had an advantage after winning as many opportunities came their way because Ricky Martin, a former member of the boyband Menudo, is one of the show's producers.
Shortly after amassing fame, the band went into the studio and recorded music. They have a similar backstory to One Direction on "X Factor" and it's okay for them to be compared.
Members include Christopher Vélez, Erick Brian Colón, Joel Pimentel, Richard Camacho and Zabdiel de Jesús.
Velez was born in Ecuador, Colon grew up in Cuba, Pimentel spent most of his time in California but has Mexican roots, while de Jesus considers Puerto Rico as his home.
