In November 2021, Taylor Swift released "All Too Well: The Short Film." It features her beloved track "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)," starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien.

Three Oscar categories recognize shorts-best live-action short, best documentary short, and best animated short. These are films that run for 40 minutes or less.

While "All Too Well: The Short Film" is Swift's filmmaking debut, this is not her first stint with directing. Her music videos such as "The Man," "Cardigan," and "Willow" is her first brush with directing.

In June, Swift revealed that she struggled with impostor syndrome while she directed the film and music videos.

""It started with meddling, and it went from meddling with the edit to then writing the treatments for the music videos," she said.

"I think I had this imposter syndrome in my head saying, 'No, you don't do that. Other people do that who went to school to [direct].'"

"All Too Well" Headed to the Oscars?

While the category is regarded as "minor," some of its recipients are not-so-minor. Previous recipients include the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant, former NFL player Matthew Cherry, and Riz Ahmed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "All Too Well: The Short Film" received an "Oscar-qualifying run." Her short film is qualified under best live-action short. The eligibility window began on the first of October 2021 and until September 30.

Swift described the short film as "a film about an effervescent, curious young woman who ends up completely out of her depth." Of course, fans know this is allegedly about Swift and her relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Swift "is working with a top consulting firm to guide its awards campaign."

The short film was screened at AMC Lincoln Square the previous year, excluding it from qualifying for best picture.

Other Possible Nominees

Among the names The Hollywood Reporter listed is Kendrick Lamar for his short film featuring himself and Taylour Paige. It is a six-minute short film entitled "We Cry Together," that follows a couple at odds with each other. Just as Swift did, the short film is an accompaniment to his track with the same name.

A short documentary about Jeremy Lin called "38 is at the garden" was also qualified. It follows the story of Lin, former NBA's New York Knicks player, during the height of his career in basketball, dubbed as "Linsanity."

The 95th Academy Awards is set on March 12, 2023 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. This will see films released in 2022, and the ceremony will be presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
