Naomi Judd once did not want to commit suicide.
Judd left the world unexpectedly on April 30 when she claimed her own life. Her daughter, Ashley Judd, said the singer lost her battle against mental health illness.
Months after the incident occurred, a source revealed that Judd once promised she would never kill herself.
The insider told Radar Online that the late 76-year-old singer did not want her grandson, Elijah, to investigate her death since he currently works at the local sheriff's office in Tennessee.
Elijah is Wynonna Judd's son with her first husband, Arch Kelley III. He has been working at the Williamson County Sheriff's Office for eight years already.
Per the source, Judd told her friends that the only reason she had not shot herself yet was because of her grandson since she did not want him to find her "that way."
"Naomi knew if she killed herself at home, the sheriff's department would be called. The department isn't very large, so it's entirely possible that Elijah would have been called to the scene. That's the last thing Naomi wanted," the source went on.
Naomi Judd Had Been Having Suicidal Thoughts
Although she promised not to kill herself, she eventually did due to her long battle with depression.
While she often talked about it in public, Judd's husband was actually more aware of the extremities of her struggles.
Judd's husband, Larry Strickland, said that the singer's suicidal thoughts and tendencies made him hide their firearms at home.
"Larry was always worried about how fragile she was. He never wanted to leave her alone because he didn't trust her emotional state. I'm told he feels very guilty because the firearm she used was his - and it wasn't locked up," one insider revealed to the news outlet, per OK! Magazine.
The singer died a day before The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame through a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Meanwhile, Ashley Judd recently revealed in her lawsuit that her mother was still alive when she found her. She also stayed with her for 30 minutes until the responders arrived.
The video recorded by the bodycam of Williamson County Sheriff's Department's cops can reportedly prove it.
The family filed the lawsuit in pursuit of blocking the release of autopsy and toxicology reports related to Naomi's passing.
