DaBaby just canceled his September 2 show and reports immediately circulated that it was postponed due to low ticket sales. More recently, his team broke their silence to speak out on the matter; what was the real cause of his concert's cancelation?
According to a statement issued by Andrew Lieber, the CEO of DaBaby's booking agency, his show on Friday was canceled due to "the promoter being in breach of contact." (via Complex)
He assured fans that the rapper will be back in New Orleans in the future for his fans' delight.
Many speculated that the reason behind the postponement was because of low ticket sales. Ticketmaster's chart of available seats showed that there are only a few hundred slots purchased by fans, which is way too low for the venue's 17,791 capacity.
Lieber noted that the website showed misleading information and asserted that the show was not canceled because of its ticket sales.
DaBaby's Show in New Orleans Canceled
In early reports, the rapper was supposed to perform at the Smoothie King Center on September 2, but fans were disappointed after he canceled days before the event.
Promoters for the concert spoke to NOLA, saying they're doing their best to fix the situation and even suggested that the show will take place at a different venue.
They added that more music acts could also perform aside from DaBaby.
At the time of its cancelation, Ticketmaster noted in its website that the show was "canceled" despite promoters insisting that it was "postponed."
Speaking about the reason why it got postponed, promoter Greg Pulver said it was because of "a number of business reasons."
"We decided to postpone and that was in our best interest," he added.
DaBaby Still in Hot Water After Being Canceled Last Year?
DaBaby became one of the most controversial artists in 2021 after making homophobic remarks during the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami, Florida.
While performing on stage in front of thousands of fans, the rapper blurted out offensive words about people with HIV and AIDS.
He added, "If you ain't sucking d*** in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up."
Following his remarks, he received negative feedback from users online causing him to be canceled. Numerous celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Madonna, and more called out the rapper for his wrongdoings.
Several festivals also removed DaBaby from their line-ups including Music Midtown, Austin City Limits, iHeart Radio festivals, and many more.
