Music streaming service Spotify has recently released its top pick for the highly-debatable "Song of the Summer," and three titles launched atop the playlist.
However, among the Top 5 tracks, Jack Harlow's "First Class" was nowhere to be found, despite being awarded as such at the recently-concluded MTV Video Music Awards.
Meanwhile, one of the three tracks have achieved momentous feat, decades after it has been formally released.
What Is Spotify's Song of the Summer 2022?
According to the streaming giant Billboard Hot 100 current leader, "As It Was" is this year's song of the summer.
Harry Styles' lead album single, "As It Was," has logged on more than 610 million streams globally since its release three months ago. Notably, it was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for the most streamed track on Spotify within 24 hours by a male artist, with 16.1 million streams on its opening day.
Spotify also announced that the song also took over the summit of 24 counties worldwide. These include Canada, Belgium, Trinidad and Tobago, Switzerland, and even the United Arab Emirates.

However, a different track topped the US charts - it was Kate Bush's 1985 hit song "Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)." Thanks to "Stranger Things" Season 4, the track gained massive popularity among the newer generations. The track has achieved chart success 37 years after it was released. Reportedly, the song recorded first-time streams for over 7,800% since it was used in the hit Netflix show.
Taking the Top 3 spot is Bad Bunny and Chencho Corleone's "Me Porto Bonito after topping 14 Latin American countries' Song of the Summer charts. Peru, Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Mexico hailed it as the top song.
Bad Bunny's "Titi Me Pregunto" takes the No.4 while Joji's "Glimpse of Us" closes the No. 5 spot. Lizzo's "About Damn Time" sist at No. 12.
MTV VMAs 'Song of the Summer'
Last Sunday at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, Jack Harlow took the moonman for "First Class" after it was recognized as the Song of the Summer.
Interestingly, the song beat "Me Porto Bonito," "About Damn Time," and "Late Night Talking."
Meanwhile, "First Class" sits on Spotify's Songs of the Summer playlist at No. 20.
