The long wait is over! After teasing their collaboration on TikTok over the past few weeks, Sam Smith and Kim Petras have finally released their highly-anticipated song titled "Unholy."
According to Billboard, the two pop stars teamed up to produce the track which revolves around husbands who cheats behind their wives' backs as they remained ignorant about the situation.
The "Like I Can" hitmaker appears to be exploring his music capabilities as his recent release sounds completely different from his ballad songs like "I've Told You Now," "Stay With Me," and more.
"Unholy" was produced by Smith, Cirkut, Blake Slatkin, Jimmy Napes, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Omer Fedi.
The singer, who identifies as non-binary and prefers "they/them" pronouns, released a statement about the song, saying the collaboration was one of the "most glorious creative moments" they ever had as a musician.
He added that it was so fun to create the track and it was freeing for them to experiment with something that led them to "throw out the rule book" as it was different from the songs they previously released.
"It has also been an honor to work with Kim and get to witness her brilliance. This song is about liberating oneself from the clutches of others' secrets," they added.

'Unholy's Success, Sam Smith New Album Coming Soon
Way before the song even dropped on music streaming platforms, it already became one of the most popular songs on TikTok as it was used over 300,000 times.
Smith and Petras started teasing about the song last month by posting short snippets while dancing around a studio.
In August, the English singer spoke to the outlet to tease about their highly-anticipated fourth album, saying it would be their "first non-heartbreak" record as they're popularly known for releasing breakup ballads.
The album would mark a new era for Smith as it would feature a more optimistic sound.
As of this writing, Sam Smith has not revealed an official release date, tracklist, and title for their upcoming record.
On the other hand, Kim Petras encouraged her fans last month to listen to her "leaked album" and she has no problem with it.
The tracks were leaked online and the singer said it won't be officially released anymore after getting "scrapped." She promised fans that new music is coming soon and she's excited for her supporters to listen to them.
