Half Ounce was shot and died in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.

According to Fox 11 Los Angeles, the rising Inglewood rapper (real name Latauriisha O'Brien) was fatally shot around 11:30 p.m. on October 3 in the vicinity of 8th and New Hampshire.

Per the authorities, Half Ounce and a companion were walking home when a dark-colored SUV drove up and opened fire on both men.

Based on the reports, the rapper's buddy fled the scene, and police are attempting to locate him as they continue their search for the gunman. It's uncertain as of the moment whether the rapper's companion fired back.

The Los Angeles Police Department spotted Half Ounce in a planter and reported that his pregnant wife was on the phone with him when shots were fired.

The "GANGBANGIN" rapper is the third rap musician shot in Los Angeles County in the previous month. A teenage rapper named Kee Riches was reportedly shot and died in Compton at the end of September, while PnB Rock was fatally shot while dining with his fiancée at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles on September 12.

Half Ounce is survived by a 9-month-old son, a 2-year-old son, and an 8-year-old daughter.

It's unclear as of the moment whether the shooting was premeditated or random. Half Ounce had made no secret of his history, which includes county jail time and ties to the Piru gang. Half Ounce stated that he began his music career at the age of 11 when his mother organized a meeting between him and Xzibit.

In a 2013 interview, he stated he was open to collaborate with musicians associated with other gangs and was unconcerned about his gang links. "I'm not banging on wax," he said at the time. "I'm not banging on my music." According to authorities, the reason for Monday's shooting was unclear.

This brings into mind all the people who have so far said being a rapper is actually a dangerous path in the US. Jones' 2020 remark orignally ignited a feud with a combat veteran who was offended by his comparison.

Jones stated in an interview with HipHopDX that he still holds these beliefs, especially in light of the June 22 shooting of 21-year-old artist Lil Tjay. Jones told DX, "I stand by it" He explained that ore rappers are murdered than there are weeks in the year. He even said that every day, people now feel compelled to discuss a different rapper who was just shot or participated in a shooting or anything similar.
