Charlie Puth has been a center of controversy over the past few months due to his videos on TikTok and photos on Instagram which many deem as "queerbaiting." Today, the singer is breaking his silence over the allegations and explaining his side.

According to the Huffpost, the 30-year-old pop star has been posting content on social media of himself without wearing any shirt and seemingly teasing his fans.

He raised some eyebrows as many consider his actions as a form of queerbaiting.

Per writer and activist Leo Herrera, the term "queerbaiting" is defined as when a celebrity or a famous personality "capitalizes on the suspicion" that they are romantically involved with the same sex for the sake of publicity. (via Rolling Stone)

Puth's recent posts garnered attention from fans and critics. Other artists who were previously accused of queerbaiting include Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and many more.

The singer spoke to GQ Magazine to explain his side, saying his posts are not meant to "antagonize anybody," but rather, he's just showing off his body that he put a lot of effort into.

"These gym sessions are expensive in LA!" he said.

Charlie Puth Inspired by the LGBTQIA+ Community

The LGBTQIA+ community has a special place in Charlie Puth's music career as he considers them an inspiration for his songs, especially in his new album.

He recalled an incident earlier this year when music legend Elton John told him that his music "sucked." The comment made the singer realize that he needed to reconsider how he write songs.

The "We Don't Talk Anymore" hitmaker commended the queer community for being ahead of its time in all aspects, including music.

There was one moment when the singer was driving past gay clubs in West Hollywood while on his way to the studio, saying he became inspired so he "rearranged" the song he was working on.

The song he was talking about is "Loser" and another track that was inspired by the community was "There's a First Time for Everything" which he considers a homage to Madonna's "Into the Groove."

Regarding his thirst trap photos online, Puth suggested that he will not stop anytime soon because he's very hyped up all the time.

His new album titled "CHARLIE" is currently available for purchase and streaming on music platforms.
