Slipknot has been a significant part of their former record label Roadrunner Records as they worked with the music giant for more than two decades. However, they decided to leave the label recently and frontman Corey Taylor is ready to share their side of the story as to what happened to their professional relationship.
Speaking to NME, the vocalist explained that they left the label last year because the band has already fulfilled their contract, he also noted that there have been major changes within the company that ultimately led to their exit.
Taylor said Roadrunner has been completely different than it was when they first signed with them years ago, before adding, "Once you're in the hands of people who don't care, it's just a f****** business. And that's what happened."
He also exposed the record company, explaining that the heavy metal band had to fight for every release they have had under their contract because the people working for Roadrunner "think they know what they're doing and they just don't."
Workers of the company had also given them advice, but they refused to listen because they don't know what they were talking about.
Slipknot Enters a New Era With New Album After Cutting Ties With Roadrunner Records
Elsewhere in the conversation, Corey Taylor said their relationship with the record company also inspired the title of their recent album "The End So Far" and they consider it a new era for them in the music industry.
It feels like a "second phase" for the metal band as the first phase was with the original members and the second phase would be dealing with loss, especially after Paul Gray and Joey Jordison passed away.
Last year, the band was devastated after Jordison passed away at the age of 49. He reportedly died in his sleep on July 26 after suffering from a neurological disorder called transverse myelitis.
On the other hand, Gray died in 2010 and autopsy reports show that he passed away due to an overdose of morphine and fentanyl.
Many fans have been rejoicing on social media after Slipknot finally dropped their highly-anticipated album "The End, So Far" that contains 12 new songs.
Their latest record is now available for streaming on music platforms as well as for purchase.
