It's been two years since The Strokes released their last album "The New Abnormal" and many fans have been waiting for them to drop new music. Recently, frontman Julian Casablancas gave an update regarding the progress of their new record, revealing a possible timeline for when they'll release their next project.
Taking to his official Instagram account, the vocalist credited the band's producer, Rick Rubin, for his appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, where he confirmed that the group has been working on their new album.
Casablancas doubled down the confirmation by revealing that they "jammed and started some stuff." However, it appears that a new album will not come out anytime soon as The Strokes are still "far off from being even close" to any form of "near-doneness."
"lotta jumping to conclusions - check back in a year or 2 honestly," he added.
As of this writing, neither one of the members has shared more information about their upcoming project. No release date nor record title has been publicly revealed.
Rick Rubin Working With The Strokes for Their Next Album
The recent post comes a day after Rubin spoke to Joe Rogan to share some of the things that he is currently working on.
One of which is The Strokes' seventh studio album, saying he worked with the band in Costa Rica a few months ago and they already started recording some stuff.
Speaking about the experience, the producer noted that he and the group rented a house on top of a mountain and they play outside the residence.
"So they're playing... It's like they're doing a concert for the ocean, on the top of a mountain. It was incredible. And we did that every day, playing out in the [open], and they didn't want to leave. It was, like, the best experience," he added. (via NME)
This isn't the first time Rubin worked with The Strokes as they previously collaborated in 2017 when they started working on "The New Normal" which was released in 2020.
Singles that are included in the album include "Brooklyn Bride To Chorus," "At The Door," "The Adults Are Talking," and many more.
The New York City-based band has been gracing fans with music since being formed in 1998. Some of the previous albums they released are "Room on Fire," "The Observer," "Future Present Past," "First Impressions," and many more.
