Doechii is on a slow but steady rise in the music industry. After signing with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), she has seen some success with her music, and now she is back to deliver with her latest single "Stressed."
The song follows what is it like to be down in the dumps, feeling restless, and going through a tough time.
The lyrics read "I must be lost in my regrets / I must be down, I must be stressed / I've got like thirteen years of age that I ain't still got off my chest / It must be so much more to life, if I had diamonds and baguettes / I must be stupid, fucking shady/ Must be down, I must be stressed. [sic]"
The 24-year-old rapper opened up about the song, thanking fans for appreciating the song and the meaning behind it.
"All jokes aside I'm really touched that y'all love my song "Stressed" it's a vulnerable track for me .. means a lot. Anyways period Ahh period uhh, [sic]" she wrote.
Who is Doechii?
Doechii, born Jaylah Hickmon, began her music career in 2015 by uploading songs on SoundCloud. She still went by the name Lamdoechii when she released her debut song "Girls" in 2016.
A few years later, she dropped "Oh, the Places You'll Go," her debut EP in 2020.
"Yucky Blucky Fruitcake," a song off "Oh, the Places You'll Go" reached milestones, which was a great feat for an artist just starting out.
With this, the ball just started rolling for Doechii. She released her third EP, "Bra-less," in 2021. She was featured on "Wat U Sed' by Isaiah Rashad, which she ended up performing with the rapper at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards. The song was off his studio album "The House Is Burning."
She also caught the attention of TDE, reports say.
Record Deal
The TikTok sensation came out with "Persuasive," reports say. She was also featured on "Trampoline" by David Guetta and Afrojack, alongside Missy Elliott and Bia.
For now, Doechii has not released any studio albums, and there is no word on that yet. However, fans can expect more music from the rapper as she can pull music out from her vault at any given moment.
