Sad news for The Sword! The Texas-based band will no longer be a group as announced by guitarist John D. Cronise; why did they disband?

According to the musician's statement, he had reached the difficult conclusion that the band's journey has to end. The rhythm guitarist looked back at his career, saying he only hoped for the successes they enjoyed when he first entered in 2004.

Since the group amassed a solid fanbase as well as successful supporters of their music, Cronise said he's happy to be a part of The Sword for almost 20 years.

The reason why they're disbanding is that they have to move on, and the musician will be pursuing other projects and working with other endeavors.

"In that time everything I ever wanted to say and do with The Sword creatively has been said and done, and so the time has come for me to move on to other endeavors," he said. (via Loudwire)

Elsewhere in his statement, Cronise expressed his gratitude to the people who watched them perform live, bought their records, merch, and their loyal supporters through the years.

He also took the opportunity to thank the people who worked with them while they were touring like sound production, tour managers, and merch sellers, as well as the music acts who played with them.

Aside from the people mentioned above, he's also grateful for the people behind their music like producers, recording engineers, labels, their booking agent, and many more whom the band has considered their good friends over the years.

Lastly, he's thankful for his bandmates Kyle Shutt, Bryan Richie, Santiago "Jimmy" Vela III, and Trivett Wingo for allowing him to realize his vision.

As of this writing, Cronise didn't reveal his next move in the music industry.

The Sword's Successful Career

Throughout their career, the band was able to release six studio albums. Their most recent project was "Used Future" in 2018.

Other albums include "Gods of the Earth" in 2008, "Age of Winters" in 2006, "High Country" in 2015, "Warp Riders" in 2010, and "Apocryphon" in 2012 which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart, making it their biggest success.

They also released different compilation projects, split releases, and EPs. As of this writing, the other band members have not revealed their next career move.
