And the clock strikes midnight!
Taylor Swift's highly-awaited "Midnights" album is already here, and when fans thought that the surprise was already the album - they were even more surprised by what happened after three.
Remember the "very chaotic surprise" that Taylor Swift said would drop at three am on October 21? Turns out, it's seven more songs for the "Midnights" album.
In her Instagram post, Swift revealed what pushed her to craft seven more songs.
"Surprise! I think of Midnights as a complete concept album, with those 13 songs forming a full picture of the intensities of that mystifying, mad hour. However! There were other songs we wrote on our journey to find that magic 13. I'm calling them 3am tracks. Lately I've been loving the feeling of sharing more of our creative process with you, like we do with From The Vault tracks. So it's 3am and I'm giving them to you now," she elaborated.
The songs are now included in a separate album, "Midnights (3am Edition)," a deluxe version of some sort.
According to Variety, three of the seven songs were co-written and co-produced by Aaron Dessner, a frequent collaborator on 2020's "Evermore."
This brings the total of Taylor Swift's "Midnights" tracklist to 23 songs. This is composed of the original 13 tracks from the original album, the seven more songs on the "3am edition," and the three more songs on the Target-exclusive bonus tracks.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift thanked Jack Antonoff in a separate Instagram post.
"Midnights is a wild ride of an album and I couldn't be happier that my co pilot on this adventure was Jack Antonoff. He's my friend for life (presumptuous I know, but I stand by it) and we've been making music together for nearly a decade," she wrote.
But despite their long-standing work history, the GRAMMY-winning artist said that this is the first time that the two of them were credited as main collaborators.
In the span of three hours, several music publications have already given their review on Swift's newest album.
The Independent scored "Midnights" a perfect five stars, noting that this is Swift's "darkest and most cryptic album yet."
On a very rare occasion, Rolling Stone has given their "Instant Classic" seal on "Midnights," saying that the album "leaves more and more to be uncovered beneath the purple-blue synth fog on the surface."
"Midnights" is already out on Spotify and Apple Music.
