Lily Collins opens up about how it feels like to be the daughter of the legendary music icon, Phil Collins.

Phil welcomed Lily with his second wife, Jill Tavelman, in 1989. The daughter is now one of the most famous actresses and models, and she famously held a leading role in the Netflix series, "Emily in Paris."

In an interview with Vogue France (via Entertainment Tonight Canada), Lily dismissed the claims that she gets special treatment because she is the daughter of the Genesis drummer. According to the 33-year-old star, she never wanted her father to have an "invisible touch" in her career.

"It was out of the question that people would think that I use a free pass thanks to my name. I'm proud of my dad, but I wanted to be me, not just his daughter. For that, I was ready to wait to break through," she said.

Lily also wanted to be a singer, but she opted to be an actress as she wanted to make her own way in the industry.

While trying to be the woman she wanted to become, she also showed her love and support for her father.

On Phil Collins' 71st birthday, she sent him a heartfelt message and told him to hug her tightly as she always needs him. She has also personally shown her love for him by attending his band's final performance, where he announced his retirement.

Aside from Phil, Lily also gets most of the support from her husband, Charlie McDowell.

Last month, she spoke highly of the filmmaker and called him her best friend.

Where Is Phil Collins Now?

As of press time, Lily and her family have not released an update about Collins.

For what it's worth, the drummer held his last show alongside Genesis during their concert at the O2 Arena show. His decision to step down came after he told "BBC Breakfast" that he could barely hold a stick after sustaining a spinal injury.

According to Phil, his vertebrae were crushing his spinal cord due to his position whenever he drummed in.

It, unfortunately, made things worse for him.

"Somehow, during the last Genesis tour, I dislocated some vertebrae in my upper neck, which affected my hands. After a successful operation on my neck, my hands still can't function normally. Maybe in a year or so it will change, but for now, it is impossible for me to play drums or a piano," Phil said.

His son, Nic, told Rolling Stones that Phil might still come back despite his retirement announcement.
