Since the announcement of his death via Facebook by Sesame Workshop, fans have flocked in to honor him and have given him tributes.

Bob McGrath's real cause of death was complications due to a stroke.

Bob McGrath died peacefully in his home last Dec. 4, 2022, in New Jersey, surrounded by his family.

"Sesame Workshop mourns the passing of Bob McGrath, a beloved member of the Sesame Street family for over 50 years," a statement reads. "A founding cast member, Bob embodied the melodies of Sesame Street like no one else, and his performances brought joy and wonder to generations of children around the world, whether teaching them the ABCs, the people in their neighborhood, or the simple joy of feeling the music in their hearts."

Bob McGrath Death Tributes

As soon as the announcement hits online, people have been mourning the death of Bob McGrath.

"RIP, Bob McGrath. Thanks for being the only Sesame Street resident to remember the Jewish people back in 1978," writer Sarene Leeds tweeted.

"He lived to be 90, that is a good, long life but maaan... losing the heroes of my childhood still hurts every time," actress Yvette Nicole-Brown also shared.

"Bob McGrath was always there. On the TV during my childhood, on the Street when I arrived, on the Macy's float at Thanksgiving, at everyone's shows and concerts, at all the Jim Henson Legacy events. Bob was always there," a fan posted.

Bob McGrath was one of the first four non-Muppet members of "Sesame Street" when the show first hit television in 1969.

McGrath was the person who sang the show's signature songs like "Sing, Sing a Song," and "The People in Your Neighborhood," among many others.
