Dino Danelli is best known for being the drummer for the 1960s rock band The Rascals, but by all accounts, he is one of the most underrated drummers in rock music history.

His untimely death, which was announced by his fellow bandmates through social media has sent shock waves to the rock music community, devastating many.

Billy Joel took to social media to share his condolences to Danelli and his family, "The great Dino Danelli of the Young Rascals has passed away. He was one of the greatest drummers in popular music. My deepest sympathy to his family."

Clem Burke, the drummer of the 1970s band Blondie, expressed his sympathies simply by quoting an article about Danelli's death and wrote, "RIP Dino Danelli."

Steven Van Zandt, a member of E Street Band, paid tribute to the late drummer through Twitter: "RIP Dino Danelli. One of the greatest drummers of all time. Rascals 1965-1971. Disciples Of Soul 1982-1984. On Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theater in Once Upon A Dream 2013."

Kiss member Paul Stanley also paid tribute and shared some kind words about Danelli, who even described him a "drummer's drummer."

"RIP Dino Danelli. Dino was a drummer in a class of very few and a great guy. A showman whose roots in Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich made him a "drummer's drummer". What style. So great to watch and listen to. Condolences to family and friends."

Invisible Mark

Other fans were equally devastated by the news, and many shared how Danelli played a significant role in their lives as children, growing up.

"I'm so sad to hear the great Dino Danelli has passed away. A brilliant drummer and artist. I'll never forget all the happy moments we spent on Broadway during the run of our Rascals show. An original Disciple. An original, period," a Twitter user wrote.

"I'm so heartbroken, I've known Dino since I was a kid. He's always been an important part of my life, supportive of all I did. Such an amazing artist with his music and painting, a true original, a true artist," another added.

Danelli made a name for himself as a drummer through his role in the success of The Rascals also referred to as The Young Rascals, reports say.

Some of the band's hits are "Good Lovin'," "Groovin'," "People Got to be Free," and "Beautiful Morning."

As of this writing, there is no definitive cause of death revealed to the public, and the Danelli family is asking for privacy.
