The Miami Dade, Florida area was shocked Thursday night after three different shooting incidents took place outside The Licking in Miami Gardens, Florida.
At least ten people were shot in the tragic encounter. Rapper French Montana was spotted in the area at the time and had fans worrying about his state shortly after.
WSVN Miami initially broke the news, saying that Miami Gardens Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene after it received reports that a shooting had been taking place on the 17600 block of Northwest 27th Avenue, last Thursday evening, Jan. 5, 2023.
At the time, multiple shots were heard at the location, with ten reported injured from the violent gunfire.
Most witnesses in the area were there after receiving a tip that French Montana was shooting a music video in the area.
Witness Cedric Mogul revealed that around 13 to 15 gunshots were fired. TMZ, on the other hand, tried to contact French Montana's team to know their state; but some sources revealed that during the scene, they saw Montana's security detail hurriedly rushing him out.
In a new TMZ article, it was revealed that Montana apparently rushed to the nearest fast food joint to take cover from the chaos. Montana, formally known as Karim Kharbouch, sought shelter at KFC for around 30 to 40 minutes until law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Turns out, Montana was at the parking lot shooting a music video. But another source says that Montana's crew was at The Licking celebrating the release of "Coke Boys 6: Money Heist Edition," the rapper's newest mixtape.
Meanwhile, The Licking staff says that they did not know that the rapper was there until only during the chaos.
Hours after worrying his fans, French Montana finally took to Twitter to update.
"Last night, I was in Miami celebrating the release of my CB6 mixtape w/ friends at a local restaurant. We unfortunately were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time," he said in a statement.
However, WSVN revealed that no necessary permits were secured from the local government for the music video production that was taking place at the back lot.
As of this writing, Montana or his crew has not yet released any statements about this particular issue.
