After more than a decade since its premiere, "Zoey 101" is getting a reunion with the original cast, but it looks like not everyone's too happy about it, mostly because Jamie Lynn Spears is confirmed to be on it.
Spears confirmed the news through social media: "I'm beyond thrilled to be back alongside my PCA family and continue the story of Zoey and all the characters fans know and love,
"As an executive producer, it's been an exciting opportunity to work with such incredible talent as well as Paramount+ and Nickelodeon."
According to Hypebae, the main cast will be taking on the roles they played over a decade ago: Spears as protagonist Zoey Brooks, Sean Flynn as Chase Matthews, Erin Sanders as Quinn Pensky, Matthew Underwood as Logan Reese, and more.
However, despite all the excitement and anticipation, the announcement was met with some pushback from netizens, who vocally protested that Spears was returning alongside the other cast.
"Nobody asked for a 'Zoey 101' movie," a netizen wrote.
"No thanks," another added, with a thumbs-down emoji.
Boycott
To make matters worse, fan-favorite characters, Lola Martinez ans James Garrett, portrayed by Victoria Justice and Austin Butler respectively, won't be making a cameo on "Zoey 102."
The news of the pair's absence from the reunion was instantly met with speculations. "Austin Butler and Victoria Justice saw that Jamie Lynn Spears is gonna be a part of the 'Zoey 101' sequel movie and said 'nah I'm good but thanks tho.' [sic]"
Aside from the netizen's disappointment that Justice and Butler won't be appearing in the reunion, some people expressed their disdain towards Spears in particular.
According to reports, Britney Spears fans publicly denounced the younger Spears and expressed how they will surely boycott the movie once it comes out.
This comes after the "Toxic" singer herself denounced her sister, calling her "scum" and accusing her of "making money" off Spears' success.
The "Zoey 101" star recently released a memoir "Things I Should Have Said," to which the singer expressed her frustrations.
"The timing of your book was unbelievable Jamie Lynn," the "Oops I Did it Again" singer wrote in an Instagram post. "especially knowing the whole world had no clue what was really done to me!"
"Zoey 101" ran for four seasons from 2005 to 2008. It was created by Dan Schneider and was a Nickelodeon show.
