CJ Harris' cause of death has been subject to baseless rumors following the emergence of the news, Newsweek reported.
Publications shared statements about Harris' death this week and confirmed that he died on Sunday in Jasper Alabama. Deadline cited the country's Coroner Joey Vick, saying that the former "American Idol" contestant was rushed to the Walker Baptist Medical Center following health distress.
CPR was performed but was unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, his family later told a news outlet that the 31-year-old died of an apparent heart attack. Walker County Coroner's Office also shared a press release confirming his death.
According to AL, Harris' body already underwent an autopsy, but more tests are needed to determine his exact and official cause of death.
Although there is no confirmation yet, Twitter users sparked rumors regarding the singer's death. People blamed vaccines, gene therapy, and more for his "sudden" passing.
These should be taken with a grain of salt as the results of his tests and a confirmation from the authorities are yet to be shared with the public.
Remembering CJ Harris
Harris rose to fame when he joined "American Idol" 13th season in 2014. He previously tried his luck on "The X-Factor," "The Voice," and 2010 "American Idol" but had unsuccessful attempts.
Following his 2014 audition in Salt Lake City, the singer advanced to the semi-finals after delivering his heartfelt versions of The Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See" and the Allman Brothers Band's song, "Soulshine."
He secured sixth place in the competition before getting eliminated.
Despite not bringing home the crown, Harris continued his music career and eventually released his debut single, "In Love," in 2019.
Following his death, his colleagues and fans shared heartfelt messages to honor his legacy.
"I'm grateful that our paths crossed and that I can say you were (and always will be) a part of mine," part of Jessica Meuse's Instagram message reads. "There are a lot of things I realize I will never understand - you leaving us so soon is one of those things. Rest easy, friend. See you on the other side."
Meanwhile, the "American Idol" Instagram page uploaded its message on Instagram Story, in which it called Harris an "incredible talent." The singing competition program expressed how broken the team feels by his passing.
