New reports say that Angila Denise Baxter, who is 56 years old and the mother of R&B singer Sammie Bush, has been charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of a Florida mother of two. The "I Like" singer has since then extended his apologies for what his mom has done.
In a random shooting in Florida, the mother of R&B singer Sammie was charged with second-degree murder. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is said to have caught Baxter on Tuesday, January 17, and charged her with murder in the shooting death of Nekaybaw Collier on January 12.
Reports say that Baxter shot at random cars and trucks that passed her in different parts of Orlando with a gun. An arrest affidavit says that Baxter shot at or into at least three cars in Orlando.
One of those cars was Collier's 2015 black Mercedes Benz, which was hit by a single bullet in the left side of her abdomen. The police found her in her wrecked car on North Powers Drive and rushed her to the hospital, where she later died. Kevin Moore, Collier's husband, says that she was getting groceries about a mile from her home.
"My younger daughter thinks that mommy is coming back from the store," he says. It's hard to tell a child that." Police claim Baxter told them that she thought she was being followed by more than one person, which is why she started shooting at passing cars and people. It is also said that Baxter has problems with his mental health.
When detectives asked Baxter if she had fired her gun, she said she had, but she said she didn't know Collier or the people whose cars she hit. Police say they have a witness who said that Baxter was "shooting at cars" and "yelling obscenities at random people in the area." The witness picked out Baxter from a group of photos. Since Collier's death, the Orange County Sheriff's Office has made a statement. They said, "We want Nekaybaw's family to know how sorry we are that this young mother, wife, and daughter were killed for no reason."
Since then, a GoFundMe account has been set up in memory of Collier to help pay for her memorial and funeral, as well as to help her two daughters and family. At the time this article was written, Collier's donation page had raised over $9,800 out of its goal of $50,000.
The GFM page, which was made by Deshema McCoy, says that Collier was "a beautiful soul who would have done anything for the people she loved." She was caring, smart, talented, and beautiful. After her mother is charged with second-degree murder, R&B singer Sammie breaks her silence. After hearing that his mother, R&B singer Angila Denise Baxter, was charged with the second murder of Nekaybaw Collier, R&B singer Sammie Bush broke his silence.
"In consideration of the recent news, I would first like to express my most sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Collier. I understand the severity of the allegations, but I do not have any additional information. At this time, I respectfully request privacy for not only my family, but the family of Mrs. Collier. Thank you. - Sammie," the singer said in his statement.
