Pink is finally speaking out after rumors spread over two decades ago that she picked on Britney Spears.

In an interview with People magazine, the "So What" singer reflected on her early years of fame and how she survived pop stardom.

Most importantly, she explained why her bond with the "Baby One More Time" singer is unbreakable.

"People think I was picking on Britney on [my 2001 single] 'Don't Let Me Get Me,' but I've always felt like a big sister to her."

In the early 2000s, both Britney Spears and Pink were at the peak of their careers. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before the Princess of Pop started to suffer from mental health issues.

In 2008, Jamie Spears placed his daughter Britney under a conservatorship. This lasted for 13 years and only recently ended in November 2021.

During this time, the "Womanizer" singer experienced immense trauma due to the alleged abuse that came along with it. She opened up about her struggles and how they affected her life in the public eye.

"I'm very protective of her, and she's the sweetest person in the world," Pink said.

Though the two have drifted apart in recent years, Pink still holds a special place in her heart for Britney.

Pink responded when asked about their friendship: "I wish her well. I cover her in light all day long."

Did Pink and Britney Spears Have a Rivalry?

Pink and Britney Spears have been rumored to have had a rivalry, but it's difficult to say as both artists have not publicly spoken about it.

Some reports suggest that the feud began in the early 2000s when Pink and Britney Spears rose to fame as pop stars.

One reported incident that fueled the rumors was when Pink criticized Britney Spears for using her sexuality to sell records.

In an interview with a UK publication in 2003, Pink said, "It's not fair that Britney Spears has a No. 1 song called 'I'm a Slave 4 U,' and there's a feminist revolution happening."

However, Pink has since clarified that her comments were not directed at Britney Spears but rather at the music industry.

Pink said in a 2017 interview, "I have never said anything about her publicly. I never will. It's not my place."

In recent years, Pink and Britney Spears have expressed mutual admiration for each other's music and performances.

In 2017, Britney Spears tweeted that she was a big fan of Pink's music, and Pink responded by saying that she was honored and that Britney Spears was "a legend and an icon."
