Singer-actress Hayden Panettiere held back her tears as she talked about her late brother, Jansen Panettiere, in her first interview following his death.

Panettiere and her family lost her brother, Jansen, who died at the age of 28 on Feb. 19. Police responded to his apartment in New York after receiving a report regarding an "unresponsive male with CPR in progress."

However, Jansen did not make it and succumbed afterward.

Panettiere, who officially resumes her career as an actress in "Scream 6," emotionally remembered her brother during an appearance on "Good Morning America."

On Monday, host Michael Strahan told her his condolences at the end of the interview.

The 33-year-old "Nothing In This World Will Ever Break My Heart Again" singer declared, "He's right here with me," as she tried hard to hold back her tears.

It marked the first time Panettiere spoke about her brother in an interview after his passing. Previously, a source told Ok! Magazine that the "I Can Do It Alone" singer had been disappointed that the news about his death "spread like wildfire."

A week after the loss, Panettiere and her family confirmed Jansen's cause of death in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"His charisma, warmth, compassion for others, and his creative spirit will live forever in our hearts and in the hearts of all whom he encountered. Though it offers little solace, the Medical Examiner reported Jansen's sudden passing was due to cardiomegaly (enlarged heart), coupled with aortic valve complications," the statement revealed.

It did not clarify whether the family knew about his condition before Jansen's passing.

Why Hayden Panettiere Took 4 Years Off

Elsewhere in the interview, Panettiere told Strahan the real reason why she decided to take a hiatus for four years before returning to the "Scream" franchise.

According to the singer-actress, she worked on her personal life: mental, physical, and emotional health before her return. Talks about her comeback started when multiple publications reported Panettiere's return for Scream VI in May 2022.

Hayden Panettiere has been part of different industries since her debut in 1993. But as a singer, she already made several records and received accolades for her song.

She notably got a Grammy Award nomination for the track of "A Bug's Life." She also recorded several songs for films, including "Someone Like You" for "The Dust Factory" and "My Hero Is You" for "Tiger Cruise."
