Coolio's death devastated fans, especially since it was so sudden, no one saw it coming-not even the rapper himself.

To celebrate his life and music career, his estate announced that the music Coolio was working on will be released sometime soon as a part of a posthumous album titled "Long Live Coolio."

According to reports, "Long Live Coolio" will be the rapper's first new material for over a decade; he released his eighth studio album "From the Bottom 2 the Top" in 2009.

This forthcoming album will boast collaborations with some of Coolio's contemporaries, Too $hort, Treach from Naughty by Nature, and other artists.

While there isn't any news on when the album will come out, the first single "Tag You It" featuring Too $hort will be released on Mar. 17.

"The song is catchy, raunchy, and raw in the right ways," a statement about the song read. "This song is certain to create controversy and buzz."

"Tag You It" was produced by Coolio's long-time friend and frequent collaborator DJ Wino.

Aside from the collaborations, the forthcoming album will also boast some songs that Coolio recorded and intended to release.

R.I.P., Coolio

Coolio was born Artis Leon Ivey Jr. in Monessen Pennsylvania in 1963. He began rapping as a teenager and pursued a career in music in 1987 with the release of his first-ever sing;e "Whatcha Gonna Do?"

He gained international success and recognition following the release of his Grammy-winning hit song "Gangsta's Paradise."

Aside from that song, he also released several other songs that became fan-favorites like "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)" in 1996, "CU When U Get There" in 1997, and "Fantastic Voyage" in 1994.

Beloved

He was not only beloved by fans, but he was also very much loved and looked up to by his fellow rappers. Many mourned his sudden death.

"Coolio's passing has been rough on me," said Young MC. "I had just seen him at a show a week before and he looked fine. I literally got a call from someone who saw it online and asked me was it true."

Another friend, Tone Loc, talked about Coolio's passing, "I would say myself, Young MC and Rob Base toured with Coolio the most. He is heavily missed by us. That's my boy."

According to reports, on Sep. 28 2022, the rapper was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor at his friend's house; he was pronounced dead on the scene.
