Earlier this month, The Eric Church Band hosted their third annual Put a Club in My Hand golf tournament in Nashville and raised over $112k for MusiCares. Since starting the tourney, the band and their friends have raised nearly $300,000 for the cause.
Featuring an 18-hole scramble, the invitation only event hosted artists, industry pros and staff. While most participants wore the traditional argyle socks, the band went all out to be different, wearing tutus (see photo). The money came from tournament registration fees and donations from corporate sponsors like EMI Records Nashville, Hard Rock Cafe, Jack Daniels and Sony/ATV Music Publishing. A silent auction featuring items from artists like Cadillac Three, Colt Ford, Dierks Bentley, Easton Corbin, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift brought in even more cash.
MusiCares provides services and resources that cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies for those in the music industry. Debbie Carroll, Executive Director, talked about the tourney and how much it helped in a press release. She said, "MusiCares is overwhelmed by the generous support of the Eric Church Band and their annual Golf Tournament. Over the past three years, the tournament has grossed close to $275,000 and those funds have gone to helping so many music people in need. They are ensuring that we can continue to make a true difference in the lives of many. We can’t thank them enough."
