Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor will focus on his solo career with the upcoming release of his second solo album.
After the release of "CFMT" in 2020, Taylor will drop his "best rock album of this year, and the next," titled "CMF2." Several news outlets have already teased fans with exclusive photos of the singer's exclusive recording sessions, and he recently dropped more details about the project.
Corey Taylor's New Album To Be Released Via Own Imprint
Taylor launched his imprint, Decibel Cooper/BMG, which is part of his global recordings agreement with BMG. In a new interview with "The Archive of B-Sox," the singer revealed that his new album would be presented through the imprint and added that he wanted to use it, as well, to support new rock and metal artists.
Releasing "CMFT2" through his own imprint would reportedly be the "first major step" in something he has been building toward in the past few years, making the singer more excited.
"Not only my solo career but me trying to help do my part to bolster the next generation of hard or heavy new music, whether it's rock, punk, metal, regardless," he said via Louder. "It's just one more notch in my bat where I can break through some walls for people, man."
However, Taylor is yet to confirm whether Slipknot will also release music through the label following the arrival of its most recent album, "The End, So Far," in September.
What Fans Should Expect From Corey Taylor's "CMF2"
Ahead of the release of the new album, Taylor also sat down for an interview with NME during which he said fans would "lose it" once they hear the record.
He hinted at the inclusion of darker, heavier songs in the album, saying that he wrote most of them throughout his career.
"CMFT2" will need to soar higher, as Corey Taylor's debut album was a success.
The 13-track album included the songs "Everybody Dies on My Birthday," "Samantha's Gone," "Black Eyes Blue," "Meine Lux," and "Halfway Down."
For his new record, Taylor revealed he played 26 songs with his bandmates within four days to determine what to include in the album. After the session, he reportedly selected carefully what should make it to the final tracklist.
As of press time, Taylor has not confirmed the exact release date of his new album. But he previously said he wanted to drop it around September.
