The drama behind the YSL RICO Trial has been a spectacle for the hip-hop community because of the many twists and turns it experienced before the actual cross-examinations.
The past few weeks saw one of the counsels of Young Thug's co-defendant being detained because of alleged unruly behavior and carrying prescription pills while in court. A week before that, the lawyers were ordered to submit a 17-page essay about professionalism in exchange for a 20-day jail time.
Young Thug Trial Update
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, lawyer Eric Johnson, who was previously ordered to submit a 17-page essay about "the importance of professionalism in the legal field," has successfully submitted his paper to Judge Ural Glanville.
Apparently, Glanville ordered Johnson to write the said essay for leaving the court without permission. Back then, Johnson tried to appeal by asking to pay $250 instead of writing. Glanville pointed out that the said deal was not offered after declining a $1000 fine in lieu of the paper.
According to AllHipHop, Johnson needed to write a 17-page essay with ten primary and ten secondary sources, and it needed to be published in a legal review.
Johnson was held in contempt of court along with Anastassios Manettas, who was recently detained after being found with prescription pills in court.
Young Thug Lawyer Detained
Anastassios Manettas was caught carrying prescription pills and was detained and jailed by court police. As soon as he was escorted by security, he threw his cell phone to another counsel, but it hit the police instead. A battery of a police officer charge has been added to the case.
Meanwhile, the Fulton County Police Department has announced increasing their security detail so that instances and encounters like this could be avoided.
Young Thug Bond Release Appeal
As for Thugger, he has appealed to Judge Ural Glanville for the fourth time for a bond release. He has been declined three times because of allegedly imposing threats to witnesses outside detention.
"This Honorable Court denied bond based upon proffers made by the prosecution, mostly repeating allegations contained in the Indictment," Young Thug's lawyer Brian Steel said in the filing.
Steel was confident that Thugger would return to court as mandated by the conditions of his release if he would be permitted.
