An unfortunate and rather surprising turn of events happened again in Young Thug's RICO YSL Trial, when one of his co-defendants has been severed from the actual trial.

Defendant Jayden Myrick, also known as Set Trip or Jay Man, will be tried separately from his fellow associates. This was because he was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Young Thug Trial: Defendant Diagnosed With Schizophrenia

As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, Myrick admitted that he has not been able to take his medication since December 2022. After a mental health evaluation, Myrick was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Myrick initially wanted to represent himself in the RICO case among other felony charges. He argued that he was receiving legal advice from none other than President Joe Biden and now-convicted ex-president Donald Trump.

"I'm not the regular inmate, I be with Joe Biden and Donald Trump and they be talking to me," he said at a hearing. "Donald Trump is going to get me out."

According to Judge Ural Glanville, "severance" was "appropriate" at that point in time.

The RICO YSL trial is just another addition to Myrick's ongoing convictions. Last October 2022, he was already sentenced to life in prison without parole. He was also one of the two men who were accused of stabbing YFN Lucci in jail, a move presumed by the prosecution to be initiated by Young Thug.

More so, he was convicted of armed robbery, a count of aggravated assault, and 13 other cases back in 2018 when he shot a man who left a wedding in an Atlanta country club.

Young Thug Trial Update

With Myrick being severed from the trial, this puts the current defendants to only ten. This is because two other defendants were also severed from the pack after their legal counsel became pregnant and will be taking maternity leave.

Originally, 28 associates of the suspected Young Slime Life Gang were served with a sweeping indictment in May 2022. However, many of the other associates, including Gunna were offered plea deals in exchange for a commuted sentence.

Young Thug, on the other hand, was never offered such deals, as he was pressed to be the mastermind behind the attempt to violate RICO in Atlanta, among many other felony charges. Meanwhile, his lawyer attempts to file for bond release for the fourth time after multiple failed attempts in the past.
