Young Thug's RICO YSL Trial has been narrowed down to nine defendants after Judge Ural Glanville sacked the latest defendant out of the high-profile trial.
Thugger's Young Slime Life (YSL) Records has been on the microscope since May 2022 as the Grammy-winning rapper along with his associates was served with a grand-jury indictment for allegedly conspiring to violate the RICO act of Georgia.
Young Thug Trial Update
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the presiding judge for the trial, Judge Ural Glanville severed another Thugger's co-defendant on the trial leaving only nine defendants, including Thugger himself.
Damone Blalock, one of the co-defendants, became ill before the court proceeding and Glanville chose to sever him rather than continue without him.
The prosecution objected to Blalock's case being severed, but Glanville still continued.
Meanwhile, Blalock's lawyer, Justin Hill, described it as a "bittersweet" moment for him to exit the trial.
"This is a long trial, and I'm trying to run a business at the same time," he told the publication. "It was becoming taxing on me and my business."
Notably, Blalock's case wasn't the latest one to be sacked from the grand trial. Earlier this month, Jayden Myrick's case was also severed.
Myrick was diagnosed with schizophrenia during the commencement of the jury selection process. He claims to be receiving legal advice from President Joe Biden and now-indicted ex-President Donald Trump.
As for Thugger himself, he has missed several days of trial too as he was rushed to the hospital twice after suffering from his own health bouts. AllHipHop reported that he experienced chest pains, days after requesting for a bond release.
RICO YSL Trial Lawyers Involved in Drama?
The entire RICO YSL Trial which involves superstar rappers like Young Thug and Gunna is already high-profile and controversial as it is, but the lawyers of the defendants seemed to be picking up the headlines too.
Most recently, one of the counsel infamously expressed wanting to start an OnlyFans account because the pay for a year of legal fees was "egregiously low." The Georgia Public Defender Council then accused the lawyer of exploitation. But now, the same lawyer rescind his motion to withdraw from the case as the council upped their salary to more than 260 percent. (via AllHipHop)
