Disney's Live-Action remake of "Moana" is finally progressing the way it should be! The release date for the upcoming Live-Action adaptation has also been announced.
However, the search for the actress that will search for the heart of Te Fiti has yet to be found.
Disney 'Moana' Live-Action Cast
As of this writing, only Dwayne The Rock Johnson has been cast for the principal characters of the role. The famed actor will be reprising his role from the animated feature.
In the 2016 hit movie, Johnson played the Demigod Maui, which was loosely based on his grandfather. Johnson serves as an executive producer for the show, as his production company will play an important part on the overall production.
In a video that was posted earlier this year, Johnson confirmed the release of the movie.
"I wear our culture proudly on my skin and in my soul, and this once in a lifetime opportunity to reunite with MAUI, inspired by the spirit of my late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, is one that runs very deep for me," he said in the video.
Meanwhile, the actress for the character Moana has yet to be filled. Auli'i Cravalho confirmed in an Instagram video that she would not be reprising her role in the live-action film but would instead play a more important one-an executive producer.
The 22-year-old actress also noted that she would want a "younger" actress to play the role, as Moana is a 16-17-year-old free-spirited wanderer.
"So, as an executive producer on the film, I cannot wait to help find the next actress to portray Moana's courageous spirit, undeniable wit and emotional strength," she said in a statement.
"Hamilton" director Thomas Kail was also reported to be helming the director's chair for this one, making "Moana" his first huge film directorial debut.

Disney 'Moana' Live-Action Release Date
Now, in another video, Johnson finally revealed Disney's 'Moana' Live-Action release date.
"It's my privilege to share our legends, songs, and dance of our Polynesian culture with all of you and your families," he captioned the post, revealing Disney's 'Moana' Live-Action release date to be Jun. 27, 2025.
So far, that is more than two years from now. The long wait was warranted since, like "The Little Mermaid," the graphic and visual production for the show might have been very intricate.
