The 2023 Songwriters Hall of Fame is one of the most highly anticipated awards in the music industry: it gives recognition to the talented people who work behind the scenes and sometimes onstage as well.
Among this year's round of honorees included Gloria Estefan, Post Malone, Taylor Swift's frequent collaborator in her early album releases, Liz Rose, Jeff Lynne, and more.
Here were some of the most iconic moments during the award ceremony that fans could not stop gushing about.
Liz Rose: Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Little Big Town
According to reports, Rose finally received her flowers as a songwriter this year. The songwriter has been in the business for decades already, with several award-winning songs under her belt.
Rose has not only worked with Swift on her Grammy Award-winning song "White Horse," she has also worked with Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, and Little Big Town to name a few.
The songwriter, who has dedicated much of her life to songwriting and music, brought her daughter along with her to perform and receive her award.
"I'm speechless, literally. I didn't write a speech. And I refused to use AI," Rose said. "I just started writing songs with anybody that would write with me, including a 14-year-old, who everyone laughed at me and said, 'What are you doing?'"
"[Taylor] trusted me to help her get her songs together, and she was so young and I was so old, and it was so awesome because we learned a lot together. And we made some beautiful records, and I'm so proud of that."
Gloria Estefan's Touching Speech
Much like everyone else who was present at the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Estefan brought her family along with her to accept the long-awaited award.
She thanked her family for bringing her up with love, joy, and music in her life, as well as her new-found family-her fans, who have supported her every step of the way in her career.
"Ever since I can remember, music has saved my life," Estefan said. "[...] That is the beauty and danger of being a songwriter: We lay ourselves bare."
Post Malone's Special Award
Malone, the hitmaker of multiple chart-topping hits, received the Hal David Starlight Award; it is an award bestowed to young songwriters.
Despite being 27 years old, the New York-based rapper has accomplished a feat even seasoned rappers are yet to achieve: be honored at the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
"It's so epic to be up here," the "Sunflower" hitmaker said. "I've been touring for eight years, I'm just about done with this!"
The rapper is known for his music in hip hop, and can also sing! For his performance, he brought out a guitar and sang "Feeling Whitney."
