Corey Taylor shared his thoughts about retirement and what would happen to Slipknot once he calls it a career.
Both Taylor and Slipknot have been busy in the past years as the frontman works as a band member and a soloist at the same time. He recently released the follow-up to his 2020 album, titled, "CFM2," while the band has scheduled 2023 tours after dropping "The End, So Far" full album.
Will Corey Taylor Continue His Career With Slipknot?
Taylor unveiled his plans while tackling his future retirement in an interview with Rock Antenne. According to the singer, he can still tour and play music despite his age, but he remains open to reaching the end soon.
He assured fans he would continue to tour as long as he could physically do it, but he also broke them by saying his high-caliber performances would soon reach their peak.
"I've already thought about it - I've already thought about, maybe I've got another five years left of physically touring like this," the singer said. "I try to take care of myself. I work out when I can. The travel out here [in Europe] is exhausting; the food is horrible; so it makes it hard to do that."
Taylor added that if ever he wanted to retire and leave Slipknot, he would reportedly help them find somebody to replace him and assist the band to continue its legacy for more years. If that happens, the group will endure another loss after it moved on without Paul Gray and parted ways with Joey Jordison.
Corey Taylor Will Continue Performing With Slipknot
Although he already has clear plans, Taylor admitted that he still performs - and will still do - with Slipknot because he still wants to do it as "something" in his heart and soul needs it.
Taylor has been leading Slipknot for decades, but he and his bandmates also endured retirement and disbandment rumors over the years due to several reasons.
For instance, he once underwent an emergency spinal surgery in June 2016 after discovering that he had been suffering from a broken neck for years. The frontman only learned about his health issue when he had a routine physical at a medical facility when he was 42, confirming that he sustained a very old injury in his C5 and C6.
