Jane Birkin House Targeted By Crimes After Her Death – Details

After being found dead on Jul. 16, 2023, fashion icon and singer Jane Birkin's home in Paris was targeted by thieves days after her death.

The singer was found dead by her caregiver on the first night she had spent home alone in after two years of trying to gain independence.

Jane Birkin Home in Paris Burglarized

Last week, Jane Birkin's death was mourned by many because of her mysterious death.

According to local media outlets in France, BFMTV reported that burglars attempted to ransack his home on July 19 in the wee hours of the night.

Per police reports, the outlet claimed that Birkin's childhood friend, who was staying at the home, heard noises coming behind the door at 4:00 in the morning.

Potential evidence of an attempted break-in was found as soon as police officers were called in. These include markings and damage on the door and its door frame. Small pieces of wood were also scattered on the ground.

Neighbors also saw three individuals roaming around the area, attempting to enter the house, the day before the reported incident.

According to the outlet, surveillance cameras were already erected by the police on the house and as well as her other residences in the area.

Per NME Magazine, Jane Birkin's cause of death was attributed to natural causes. The 76 year old artist previously suffered a minor stroke in 2021.

France mourned the death of Birkin. In a statement, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said that the "most Parisian of the English has left us," saying that: "We will never forget her songs, her laughs and her incomparable accent which always accompanied us."
