Taking place in Malmö, Sweden in 2024, the 68th Eurovision Song Contest is gearing up to be another competitive year for everyone, especially the United Kingdom.
After placing last in 2023 with Mae Muller's "I Wrote A Song," the selection committee for Team UK seemed to be shaking things up.
Eurovision 2024 UK Contestant
According to NME Magazine, the management company, TaP Music, which has helped BBC in selecting Eurovision UK contestants for the past two years will be stepping down ahead of the upcoming Eurovision 2024. The same team selected Sam Ryder and Mae Muller for the spot.
Notably, Ryder fell short of beating Kalush Orchestra of Ukraine in claiming the Eurovision 2023 trophy. However, his win seemed to have caused a resurgence of national attention and interest in Eurovision.

Muller, on the other hand, was also second, but the last on Eurovision 2023. Her song "I Wrote A Song" failed to clinch a higher placement on the ranking. Sweden's now-two-time winner Loreen was the winner of Eurovision 2023.

The company announced the big move earlier this week on social media.
"We're so proud of Sam and Mae for representing the UK so wonderfully and are enjoying watching their careers flourish as a result," they said. "It's been brilliant working with the BBC for the last two years, but for now, we think it is time to pass the baton back. We wish the BBC the best of luck with ongoing success and continuing to build the excitement and audience [for Eurovision] in the UK."
Eurovision 2024 Host City
One huge part of Eurovision is that the winning country of an edition will automatically be the host country of the following year. In 2022, Kalush Orchestra of Ukraine won the competition, but the political climate of the country at the time was deemed unfit to host such a competition.
But since Sam Ryder from the UK won second place, the United Kingdom eventually took the reins of hosting the Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.

Notably, Malmö hosted in 1992 and 2013, the succeeding year after Loreen's first win on Eurovision 2021. To date, Malmö is Sweden's biggest city next to Gothenburg, which hosted the contest once in 1985, and Stockholm, the biggest, which hosted it thrice in 1975, 2000, and 2016.
The Grand Finals for Eurovision 2024 will take place on May 11, 2024.
