Former dancers of Lizzo have recently made the headlines after they sued the Grammy-winning singer for allegedly creating a hostile work environment, among other forms of abuse in the workplace.
Lizzo has since addressed the issue, but she dismissed the allegations made by her former dancers.
Lizzo Facing More Complaints, Lawsuits?
According to NBC News, the lawyers representing three of Lizzo's former dancers revealed that they have been reviewing and receiving new complaints supporting Lizzo's behavior on set at the Emmy-winning competition "Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls," and while on tour for "Special."
Per Ron Zambrano, the lawyer representing the dancers, they were vetting new allegations from six more people who claimed to have toured with Lizzo, among other dancers who worked and joined the said competition.
Among the new allegations that arose was that the workplace was a "sexually charged environment" while also failing to pay their employees. However, not everything is plausible.
Zambrano admitted that while some are "potentially actionable," many are not.
"Some of the claims we are reviewing may be actionable, but it is too soon to say," he revealed to the outlet. As of this writing, Lizzo or her team has declined to comment on the said revelation.
Lizzo Sexual Abuse Lawsuit
Three of Lizzo's former dancers, Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez and Crystal Williams, sued Lizzo and their dance captain Shirlene Quigley for alleged sexual and religious abuse, while also creating a hostile work environment, and receiving weight-shaming comments.
Lizzo has since addressed the issue in an Instagram statement. She said:
"These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelming disappointing. My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous not to be addressed."
However, it seemed like no matter what statement she put out, Lizzo's reputation will forever be tarnished, including her advocacy for championing body positivity because of the complete opposite of what she seemed to have been doing behind closed doors.
"While Lizzo notes it was never her intention 'to make anyone feel uncomfortable,' that is exactly what she did to the point of demoralizing her dancers and flagrantly violating the law," a statement from the ex-dancers said in reaction to her statement.
