The Slipknot frontman recently spoke with Metal Hammer Magazine where he detailed his fight with alcohol addiction and admitted that he was a "full-blown alcoholic."
In the conversation, Taylor said he wanted to stay drunk at the time so he could do some horrible things due to his battle with depression.
He then revealed that he cheated on his former wife with several women every night even though they have a family.
"10 chicks a night because of that lack of self-love. When you drink that much booze, who you are becomes very washy. There's something in you that's empty. Something in you that feels like chewing tinfoil," he said. (via Yahoo!)
Corey Taylor Says He Couldn't Hit High Notes Due to Problems With Alcohol
Elsewhere in the interview, he noted that he wasn't the healthiest person at the time when he was struggling with alcohol.
It was so bad to the point that it affected his singing abilities, especially around the time when he and his bandmates were working on their album titled "Vol.3," released in 2004.
There was one moment when he was recording a song and he couldn't hit the high notes anymore and he was called out by his bandmates.
"I couldn't stay in key, I couldn't hit any of the heavy s***, I'd get half a take and I'd spoil it. The other guys did not appreciate it," he said.
Taylor said members of Slipknot told him that he was always "wasted" and he never cared about their album.
How Did Corey Taylor Recover From Alcohol Addiction?
He recalled the moment when his then-fiancé, who later became his first wife, Sharon Stone came to Los Angeles, California, to find out what he was up to.
She later confronted him and they got a room at a hotel. When they went out to talk, he got "f****** s***-faced."
At that point, he decided to end his life by attempting to jump off the balcony on the eighth floor of his hotel. Fortunately, his friend Tom grabbed his T-shirt and was able to save him.
Regarding his turning point, he revealed that he became sober immediately the following day until he relapsed three years later. After another three years, he decided to turn his life around and has been clean ever since.
