After months of teasing fans and trolling them about the title and concept of her new album, Doja Cat has finally revealed the official title and album cover of her next record, but there seems to be a problem as fans noticed something similar to the artwork; was it stolen or was it the same artist?
According to Loudwire, the female rapper's official album cover is almost the same as the artwork on a German metal band Chaver's new album titled "Of Gloom," both which are set to be released on the same exact day.
It appears that both artworks were not stolen as it was illustrated by an artist named Dusty Ray.
For Doja Cat's "Scarlet" cover, it simply features a white background along with an illustration of a pink spider with a drop of blood on top of it. The artist kept it minimal as there were no texts incorporated in the design, except for the "Parental Advisory Explicit Content" tag on the bottom right.
On the other hand, Chaver's record has a different vibe as the background is speckled, but the illustration of the pink spider is undeniably almost similar, except for a few shapes.
The German group's record is also different because it has text all over it like their name and the title of their album.
Doja Cat 'Scarlet' Album Cover
The official album art was unveiled on August 29, 2023. The rapper credited the artist Dusty Ray in a post on her Instagram story.
The outlet noted that they did research on the artist's profile on the social media platform and they found out that pink-colored bugs, animals, blood, and gor, are recurring themes throughout his personal art style.
In addition, there are also several spider illustrations, which means he had been doing this for quite a while now.
In a previous post shared with his followers last year, the spider illustration in Chaver's album was originally designed in 2018.
As of this writing, Doja Cat, Chaver, and Dusty Ray have yet to publicly address the matter, but the female rapper limited the comment section of her announcement post.
Doja Cat 'Scarlet' Release Date
Along with the album cover, Doja Cat also revealed that her new record will be available for purchase and streaming on major music platforms like Spotify and Apple Music starting on September 22, 2023.
In a previous post, the musician confirmed that the project is already "finished."
According to KIIS FM, the "Kiss Me More" songstress has released two songs from the record so far, "Attention" and "Paint The Town Red."
