Streetlight Manifesto's trumpet player Matt Stewart has died, the band confirmed. He was 41.

Streetlight Manifesto's official Instagram page shared a carousel of photos of Stewart as it announced the passing of its beloved member. It revealed that the musician passed away on Sunday, September 10, at around 3:30 p.m. while his family and friends surrounded him.

Matt Stewart's Cause of Death

According to the ska punk band, Stewart died from natural causes - but it did not share whether he struggled with any health issues prior to his demise.

"He was a good, good dude," the band continued. "Today, we lost something that simply can't be put into words. We know what we lost and the world will be a little worse off because of this loss."

Streetlight Manifesto then wished its "friend, trumpet player and longtime Streetlight family member" safe travels after he gave his bandmates a chance to work with him until his death.

His fans and colleagues left heartfelt messages in the comment section and paid tribute to his contribution to the music industry.

One said, "It was one of the very greatest joys I have ever experienced to watch Matthew Stewart perform. He was an unspeakable talent, clearly loved what he did beyond measure; I am grateful to learn what a wonderful person he was, too. Makes it all the more difficult."

"My condolences to everyone who knew him and his family," another added. "May he rest in peace. He will forever live in our memories."

Matt Stewart's Career: A Look Back

Before his death, Stewart scored the chance to become part of Streetlight Manifesto for nearly two decades.

He played on the band's three latest albums after joining in 2007 to succeed Delano Bonner, who officially replaced the group's founding trumpeter, Jamie Egan.

The band has released five albums in total: 2003's "Everything Goes Numb," 2006's "Keasbey Nights," 2007's "Somewhere in Between," 2010's "99 Songs of Revolution: Vol 1" and 2013's "The Hands That Thieve."

Stewart left the remaining active members of Streetlight Manifesto upon his demise. The band currently has Tomas Kalnoky, Jim Conti, Peter McCullough, Chris Thatcher, Mike Brown, Karl Lyden and Dan Ross.

Fans received its latest music, "Mayday," during the December 2022 show at the Starland Ballroom as part of its "The Calm Before The Chaos" Tour.
