It was definitely Shakira's big night at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards last Tuesday. While it is expected that everyone wants to interact with the pop culture icon, the singer, like any other person in the room, can only accommodate so much - which might be the reason why she had ignored Tiffany Haddish all night long.
Tiffany Haddish, Shakira Video Explained
Haddish was one of the presenters at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards last Tuesday. She presented the Best Afrobeats award to Rema and Selena Gomez's "Calm Down."
The comedienne-singer also revealed that she has new music coming soon before awarding the said category.
In a now-viral video, Shakira was seen snapping some pictures with some fans and people backstage, seemingly after the whole show. At one point, Haddish can be seen and heard screaming her name in the background.
Shakira seemed to be unbothered by Haddish's screaming in the background. At one point even, Haddish kept on photobombing the "Hips Don't Lie" singer on the red carpet while she was posing for photos holding her Video Vanguard Award and Best Collaboration Moonperson Trophy.
The singer is the first artist of South American descent who earn the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. She also won Best Collaboration for "TQG" with Karol G. She delivered a thrilling medley of her hits for her Video Vanguard performance, which also included a crowd-surfing moment.
Internet Reacts To Tiffany Haddish, Shakira Video
As the video went viral, people online, as expected, had something to say to Tiffany Haddish.
"Tiffany Haddish is not funny... people only thought she was funny because they were looking for anything to make them laugh during covid.. ma'am go sit somewhere, and stop embarrassing yourself," someone wrote.
A user even compared Haddish to Cara Delavigne's erratic behavior toward Megan Thee Stallion at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.
"tiffany was acting annoying the entire vmas and the way shakira didn't even turn her head ITS EMBARRASSING REALLY," another commented.
The "cringy," and "secondhand embarrassment"-inducing video got people riled up on social media. Some even suggested that Shakira might be the only person who remembers Haddish's recent entanglement in a shocking controversy about child grooming.
In September 2022, Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears were accused of child grooming and molesting a 14-year-old girl and her 7-year-old brother as they were coerced into filming explicit skits. (via Page Six)
