Wynonna Judd looked back at the time she stayed by her mother Naomi Judd's side moments before the matriarch died.
The one half of The Judds died on April 30, 2022, at the age of 76 after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Her daughter Ashley was the first one to find her body, and she soon revealed Naomi was still alive when she held her in her arms.
A year after her death, Wynonna revealed the last words she was able to tell her mother before she took her last breath.
Wynonna Judd's Last Words to Mom Naomi Revealed
Wynonna spoke candidly about Naomi's last moments in an interview with E! News on Thursday, September 28, before receiving the Country Champion Award in Nashville, Tenn.
According to the 59-year-old crooner, she went to her mother's house and followed the ambulance to the hospital, where Naomi was soon pronounced dead.
"And I walked into the room and I held her in my arms and I kissed her on the forehead, shut her eyes and said, 'I love you mom,'" Wynonna revealed.
The Judds were scheduled to appear at the Country Music Hall of Fame for their official induction, but Wynonna appeared alone the day after Naomi died.
As for why she chose to get up and proceed with receiving the accolade, she explained that she did it because she and her mother love music so much, regardless of what had happened.
A year after Naomi died, Wynonna revealed she is turning her pain into purpose and not letting devastation take over her life.
Naomi Judd's Suffered Mental Health Problems
Ashley and Wynonna issued a joint statement to the Associated Press confirming their mother's death.
"We are shattered," they said. "We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory."
Prior to her passing, Naomi revealed in her 2016 book, "River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged with Hope" that she went through worse after suffering from molestation as a child. She soon revealed in her interview with Good Morning America that she was diagnosed with treatment-resistant severe depression.
In 2017, she wrote an essay for NBC News detailing the effects of depression on her physical health, saying that it left her immobilized due to lack of movement.
