In their pursuit against Keefe D, Las Vegas police officers have covertly reached out to a rap mogul because he could be the only eyewitness in the murder of Tupac investigation.
Police approached Suge Knight, as the famed record producer and founder of Death Row Records may serve as a witness or corroborator for the case.
The Sun has reported that the police have contacted Suge Knight's family and legal advisers to see whether Keefe D could be linked to Tupac's murder. Keefe has confessed publicly about his involvement in the 1996 tragedy several times.
According to an authoritative legal source who spoke to the outlet, Suge is the ideal witness for this case because he was on site when Keefe and his nephew arrived with their guns in Las Vegas.
Since all other Keefe crew members have passed away, Suge is the only living individual who has seen the crime firsthand.
Having Suge appear as a witness could be controversial due to his turbulent history and conduct in court.
Yet there is no denying that he is the only individual capable of confirming Keefe's presence inside the car at the relevant time. This evidence would be precious and essentially validate the District Attorney's case.
Since Tupac's death, Keefe has been vocal about the tragedy. In a 2018 Netflix documentary, an officer who investigated the murder termed him an "idiot" as he believed that Keefe had put himself in jeopardy by discussing the incident.
On the night of September 7, 1996, Tupac was shot in a drive-by shooting following his attendance at the Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas.
According to investigations, Keefe D knew who may have been responsible for the crime and made this known in a documentary.
Per the Associated Press, on Friday, an arrest was made that has given Tupac Shakur's family newfound hope: the suspect is now in custody and awaiting trial for the murder of the famed rapper.
Officer Chris Carroll, who held Tupac as his life drained away after a roadside shooting, spoke to The Sun on Sunday about his recent capture.
He explained that Keefe D's reckless behavior astounded everyone. When the police seemingly forgot about the murder case, his decision to speak to multiple media outlets about his involvement was perplexing.
He went on to say that someone would have to be quite foolish to confess their involvement in an apparent crime after so long, one that the police had shown no interest in pursuing.
"Confessing one's part in the death of someone as well-known as Tupac is a highly ill-advised decision," the police added. "The whole matter was going nowhere, and had he been wise enough not to say a word, all would have been forgotten."
