Fans who weren't able to watch Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour" live in person will get a chance to get the full concert experience in cinemas as the pop star announced last month that she will bring her tour to the big screen.
More recently, it was reported that the musician is expected to earn hundreds of millions of dollars during her movie's opening date; how much would it be in total?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the mega pop superstar is headed for a record-breaking opening for a concert film as she's projected to earn a whopping $150 million to $200 million.
To break it down, her North American earnings are projected to be around $100 million to $125 million, while in other countries, it's expected to be around $50 million to $75 million.
Although the numbers mentioned above were just an estimate, the concert film already earned $100 million in advance ticket sales. There were also some cinemas across the United States that were already sold out for the concert.
Swift's new movie is said to be the highest launch for a concert film of all time.
Taylor Swift's Concert Film Compared to Other Singers
In comparison with other singers who already had concert films in the past, Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" movie in 2011 was the first one to hold the record for the highest-grossing concert film with a whopping $73 million. It also earned $26 million outside the United States, which totaled his earnings to $99 million.
On the other hand, Michael Jackson's "This Is It" only earned $72.1 million in the United States alone, but it got bigger overseas with over $181.9 million.
Miley Cyrus also had a movie titled "Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" by Disney. At the time of its release, young girls swarmed theaters across North America and it broke records after earning $31.1 million. In total, it earned $65.8 million domestically while $70.6 million outside the United States.
How Long Will Taylor Swift's Concert Film Last in Theaters
Per the outlet, AMC CEO Adam Aron said the plan is to play the movie in theaters for four weekends.
However, there are some big demands from fans to watch the film as the majority of them weren't able to watch Swift perform live.
Swift's concert film exclusively partnered with AMC theaters in the United States.
